The AHS Community Disaster Outreach Team promotes health and wellness within the preparedness, response and recovery phases of a disaster or emergency. The team provides information, education, training and counselling at no charge to anyone emotionally recovering from last year’s flood or wanting to emotionally prepare for the spring run off. The team is currently providing presentations at several venues on preparing emotionally for an emergency or disaster, and hosting resource tables at various events around the city. After June 21st the will be providing preparedness, response and recovery materials from an ‘all hazards’ perspective with a focus on health and wellness to strengthen personal resilience by managing stress.
The city-wide service is offering a presentation on “Preparing Emotionally for an Emergency or Disaster” at the Cliff Bungalow / Mission Community Association Hall, 2201 Cliff St SW on June 14th from 10:30am to 12:00noon. You can register by calling 403-955-6019, sending an email to CDOT@albertahealthservices.ca, or walking in on the day. Hope to see you there!
