The Stanley Park to Glenmore Dam Preservation Society (S2G) was formed in September 2004 in response to growing pressures on inner city neighbourhoods and green spaces brought about by Calgary’s rapid rate of growth. In its early years S2G was quite active doing water testing in the Elbow River, hosting a raft trip down the Lower Elbow River, botany walks, park clean-ups and garbage pick-ups. And then the Society slid into a few dormant years of very little activity. Recently there has been a move to revive S2G’s vitality and peoples’ interest in the organization.
